URBAN ACTIVE MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to provide fun and energetic activities for children aged 4 - 18 years, with the underlying themes of encouraging children to enjoy exercise and skill development and live an active lifestyle.
Our aim is to:

Give children the opportunity to try new experiences, sports and activities

Provide quality, safe and supervised physical activity sessions

Deliver structured Physical Education (PE) curriculum skill development lessons during school hours, lunch time clubs and after school clubs

Encourage children to remain active outside of school hours and school term time, by offering a range of non mainstream sports and activities through clubs and holiday activity camps

Be an inclusive organisation who welcomes working with diverse groups of children from all backgrounds and abilities within the north east region
WHO ARE OUR CLIENTS
During term time our main client group are Local Educational Authorities (LEA's). Current LEA's include: North Tyneside (48 schools), Newcastle City (14 schools), Northumberland (3 schools), South Tyneside (2 schools), Sedgefield (15 schools), Redcar (2 schools) and Stockton on Tees (3 schools).
We deliver the following sessions in school: multi skills, SAQ (Speed, Agility and Quickness), PE Curriculum lessons, fitness testing, archery, monitoring and identifying gifted and talented athletes, delivery of gifted and talented programmes and camps, health and fitness lifestyle education, health weeks, and lunch time and after school sports coaching clubs.Out of term time we also deliver the Gifted and Talented holiday camps and mixed sports activity camps for the LEA.
Community based work is also delivered for local sports clubs and for charities such as: Learning Disability Federation (LDF), SNAPY (special needs activities for people in York) and BASE (adults with drug issues), Rascals (childcare charity in Ashington), local cub and scout groups, British Blind Association, Action for Blind People and many more local charities.
We have also been involved with local NHS Primary Care Trust's (PCT's) in combating the growing problems of childhood obesity. We deliver fun, high energy sessions involving children with weight issues (often including their families in the activity) and provide advice to families and children on Local Authority programmes such as: North Tyneside's 'Kids get Active' programme, Basic Metabolic Index (BMI) measurements, fitness testing and Newcastle City Council's 'Lean East' and 'Lean West' programmes.
Urban Active has also been involved in delivering activities and sports for local events, such as: BBC 'Blast', BBC 'More than a Game', Blyth Quayside Festival, NE1 Annual event, County Durham & Darlington 'Healthy Schools Celebration' 07 & 08. Including LEA events such as: Wansbeck Council 'Keep kids Active'. North Tyneside 'Festival of Sport', 'Young Apprentice' and 'Moving up' Programmes. Newcastle City Council 'Sport in the Park 06, 07 & 08'
Wayne Dobson is also employed on a part time basis to deliver specialist consultancy work to Newcastle College, by delivering the practical elements on their CYQ Level 2 in Health Related Fitness for Children Instructors course. Wayne is also a TOP start Tutor/Trainer and Sports Leaders UK Tutor/Trainer and has delivered Tops course, Young Leaders Award, Day Certificate in Sports Leadership, Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership and Level 2 Community Sports Leaders Awards.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
Well-qualified and experienced Instructors supervise all our activities. All hold CRB Enhanced Disclosure, current First Aid, numerous sports coaching/instructing qualifications and have years of experience. All our sessions are fun and energetic, with the underlying theme of encouraging children to enjoy exercise and skills development and live an active lifestyle. Although we do offer and deliver many main stream sports and activities, we specialise in offering different, novel, non-mainstream sports and activities.
